EntreCampos: New project in Lisbon presented in MAPIC as a case study for the future of urbanism
- Real estate project that will transform Lisbon’s Entrecampos area will be presented next week at the MAPIC international fair in Cannes
- Developer have set their sights on making EntreCampos “a world reference for innovation, design and sustainability”
The future of EntreCampos will be officially presented to the public for the first time at the MAPIC international trade fair, one of the world’s biggest events in the retail sector, taking place between November 26 and 28, in Cannes, France.
The EntreCampos real estate project, one of the largest and most ambitious the city of Lisbon has seen in recent decades, is already underway and will soon begin the retail and residential marketing phase. With a firm commitment to opening a new chapter in the community of the surrounding area, transforming it into a vibrant center of life, commerce, leisure and work.
“EntreCampos will be a world reference in terms of innovation, design and sustainability, and will bring a new centrality to Lisbon: it will redefine the heart of the city, becoming the new epicenter of the Central Business District,” summarizes Miguel Santana, director of Fidelidade Property, the project’s promoter.
As a whole, EntreCampos includes seven office buildings and three residential buildings, interconnected by an innovative set of retail, restaurant and outdoor leisure spaces, integrated into 17,000m2 of green and public spaces.
The retail component consists of 24,000m2 spread over two floors, with 75 stores, designed to create a new shopping and leisure destination. The commercial space was projected with a street concept, combining emblematic stores, fine dining establishments and a central restaurant area.
From the very first sketch, the EntreCampos concept was developed with the aim of being open to the city and its citizens seven days a week, from morning to night, bringing together a unique and diverse offer. “It will be a vibrant and dynamic new neighborhood, offering the latest in leisure, culture, gastronomy and retail in a single space. It will be a project for the city’s inhabitants, but also for its visitors,” says Miguel Santana.
The ambition behind the transformation of Entrecampos is also evident in the partners who have embraced the challenge. The project was designed by some of the world’s most renowned architecture firms, namely Gensler and KPF, in collaboration with local architecture firms Promontório and Saraiva e Associados. The residential buildings were designed by Pritzker Prize-winning Portuguese architects Siza Vieira and Souto de Moura, together with Ana Costa.
Accessibility is another key element for EntreCampos: in addition to already being one of the city’s largest public transport interfaces – served by the metro, train and bus – the neighborhood will have an additional 2,000 public and private parking spaces on top of the existing ones and a wide range of light mobility solutions, such as an extensive network of cycle paths.
In the area of sustainability, EntreCampos will also be a benchmark in ESG criteria. An example of this is the fact that the project has already received unique certification indexes in Portugal, such as the LEED Neighborhood Gold certification, awarded for the first time in the country, which assesses the energy efficiency of the project as a whole; and the WiredScore Neighborhood, awarded for the first time to a project in Continental Europe, and which measures the project’s technological index.
